Release notes

Builds that reached testers: iPhone and iPad on TestFlight, Android as a download from this site. Newest first.

1.2.0 / 1.0.0 (2119)

iPhone · iPad 1.2.0 · Android · Android TV 1.0.0

Current beta

New

  • Settings in the player: Audio and subtitles, Subtitle appearance, the player engine and Technical now sit behind a single Settings button in the player; on Android TV, Match frame rate is there too. Technical shows how many seconds of the stream the buffer has loaded ahead.
  • Change the subtitle appearance while watching: size, colour, background and position can be set during playback and are the same on all your devices. On a stream playing in VLC a short "Applying subtitles…" note appears and the stream carries on where you were with the new subtitles.
  • Films and series in the small window: pressing the film or episode that is playing small no longer starts it again, it expands ("Playing · Expand"); another episode you pick opens full screen. When an episode ends in the small window the next one does not start by itself; it says "✓ Episode over".
  • In Diagnostics, an Xtream account with 7 days or less left shows in the warning colour and an expired one in the error colour; the provider's message sits in its own box.
  • iPhone/iPad: an "Automatic" choice for the player engine; protected (DRM) content gets a box that says clearly what is going on.

Fixed

  • Posters looked cropped in "Continue watching" and other wide cards; a landscape image is now used first, and otherwise the portrait poster is shown whole, uncropped.
  • Your position is saved at once: when you minimise, pause or open something else. A watch of just a few seconds also lands in "Continue watching".
  • Android TV: the "Last channel" button on the channel bar is calmer, gold only when selected; a few wording fixes.

1.0.0 (2046)

Android · Android TV

Fixed

  • Android TV: on high-quality series and films the buffer filled the box's memory and the picture stuttered (Mi Box); the buffer now has a hard upper limit.

1.1.0 (2038)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

Fixed

  • While the film and series list was loading, the "No films in this source" card showed by mistake; loading rows now show until loading finishes.
  • Android: Films and Series also say an interrupted load is "Resuming where it left off".
  • On iPhone/iPad the version is now 1.1.0 (the update headed for the App Store).

1.0.0 (2033)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • Series page: if the provider sends them, the full synopsis, country and episode length are shown.
  • "3 left" badge: the poster of a series you started shows how many episodes are left; the "watched" mark follows the provider's episode count.

More robust

  • If the connection drops or the app closes while a large list loads, loading continues where it stopped ("Resuming where it left off") instead of starting over; a half list is never shown as complete.
  • A device that was offline for a long time no longer misses what was deleted on another device meanwhile: sync reads the account again.

1.0.0 (2013)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • Android TV: Match frame rate (Settings › Player, on) — a 25/50 fps stream switches the screen to 50 Hz for smoother motion; it switches back when the player closes.
  • Diagnostics shows whether the Xtream account is a trial and the panel's message (now on TV too).
  • Android TV Profile: the add-e-mail invite and "My devices (n/5)"; profile icon in the Android tablet header.
  • Android TV welcome screen: Terms and Privacy as a QR code to scan with your phone, plus a short address.

Fixed

  • "Recently added": on Xtream panels that send dates as text, new items fell to the end of the list.
  • The M3U time shift (tvg-shift) now applies to the guide and to catch-up.
  • Subtitle size "Medium" is now the same on every player (it was large with VLC).
  • iPhone/iPad: streams played with VLC draw as before during normal viewing (less heat); picture in picture opens from its button.

1.0.0 (1991)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • Catch-up: if your provider keeps a channel's recordings, past programmes in the guide show an ARCHIVE mark and play from the start (last night's match, say); you can seek within them. On a live channel "Start over" goes back to the start of the current programme and "Back to live" returns. If the provider doesn't give the recording, the app says so.
  • Radio: radio stations are grouped under "All radio" in Live; instead of a black screen you see the station's logo and the programme on air. They keep playing when you go to the Home Screen (switch stations from the lock screen on iPhone, from the media card on Android).

Fixed

  • Android TV: one BACK now leaves an error card (the first press used to only remove focus).

1.0.0 (1961)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • Picture in picture now also for streams played with VLC: including TS live channels and MKV films; from the button or automatically when you go to the Home Screen (iPhone · iPad).

1.0.0 (1957)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • Subtitle appearance: in Settings › Playback choose the size (Small → Extra large), colour (white, yellow), background (outline, semi-transparent box, none) and position (bottom, raised); the preview shows it at once. The choice is the same on all your devices. Picture subtitles keep the file's own look; with VLC a change shows from the next open.
  • Language info: once a film or episode has been played, its detail page shows the audio and subtitle languages ("Audio: Turkish, English · Subtitles: 3 languages"); it reaches your other devices too.
  • Dubbed / Subtitled filter: "Language: All · Dubbed · Subtitled" in Films and Series, from the provider's category and title words (Dublaj, Altyazılı, DUAL, Multi-Sub…) and the languages of files you played.

1.0.0 (1931)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • Channel layout: put channels and groups in the order you like and rename groups (you can go back to the provider's name). The layout applies in Live, the Guide, channel switching and search, and reaches your other devices if you are signed in. On TV, hold OK on a channel or group and move it with ▲▼.
  • When the picture freezes, the reason is on screen: "The provider has sent no data for 9 s", "The provider is sending in bursts", "The provider refused the stream (403)", "Data is arriving slowly" or "This device is struggling to decode the stream". Technical now also shows the live download speed.
  • Clearer problem reports: with diagnostics on, a report carries the last 10 minutes of playback (download speed, buffer, stalls — no address or channel name), so we can see what happened.

Improved

  • A live channel that keeps stalling gathers a little more picture after each stall; while data is still arriving, the stream is no longer restarted needlessly.

1.0.0 (1902)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • 2-minute buffer for films and series: the player loads 120 seconds ahead, so a short pause from the provider no longer freezes the picture (shorter for very high-quality streams played with VLC, because of a memory limit). Live channels still open as fast as before.

Fixed

  • Films and series played with VLC stuttered when data arrived late.
  • A slow-opening stream was mistaken for a freeze and restarted.
  • The guide no longer refreshes needlessly while the app is in the background.

1.0.0 (1899)

Android · Android TV

New

  • 2-minute buffer for films and series: the player loads 120 seconds ahead, so a short pause from the provider no longer freezes the picture. Live channels still open as fast as before.

Fixed

  • Android TV and phone: a live channel that keeps stalling now gathers a little more picture after each stall before it resumes; it runs a few seconds behind but stops far less often.
  • Android TV: slow-opening films and episodes switched to VLC on their own and stuttered there. VLC is now used only for formats that cannot be played otherwise, and Technical shows why; VLC choices made automatically before are reset once.
  • A slow-opening stream was mistaken for a freeze and restarted.
  • Films and series played with VLC stuttered when data arrived late.
  • Less memory on low-end devices; the app does no needless work in the background.

1.0.0 (1872)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • Confirm it's you: when adding or removing a sign-in method you may be asked to confirm with Apple, Google or an e-mail code; the change then completes by itself.
  • If the records on the device get damaged, the app starts clean and says so (if you are signed in, everything comes back through sync).

Fixed

  • iPhone/iPad: when two tasks renewed the session at once you could look signed out.
  • If a provider sends the list very slowly, the download stops after 10 minutes with a clear message; the old list stays.
  • Changes made while the server is busy are sent again later instead of being treated as an error.
  • Android 6–7: picture-in-picture is no longer offered (removes a crash risk).

1.0.0 (1840)

Android · Android TV

Fixed

  • Android TV: the times were cut off while seeking; they now show in full (holding the key shows the target time).
  • Broken or very large programme guide files no longer freeze or close the app; if the database on the device is damaged, the app still opens.
  • Security: the VLC engine writes no addresses or passwords to the device log; error boxes hide the secret parts of an address; our own server is reached only over an encrypted connection.

1.0.0 (1837)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • Security update: the VLC component that opens TS and MKV streams is updated (two known vulnerabilities closed).

Fixed

  • Broken or very large programme guide files no longer freeze or close the app.
  • If the database on the device is damaged, the app still opens.
  • If a secure (https) provider address redirects to an insecure (http) one, the app does not connect, so your password stays safe.

1.0.0 (1761)

Android · Android TV

New

  • Settings › Playback › Player: VLC first (as on the iPhone) — every stream opens in VLC first; Technical says "Chosen in Settings".

Fixed

  • Android TV: if the device's key store did not answer for a moment while the app started, you looked signed out; it now waits and reads again.
  • Android TV: after expanding the corner window and going back, the remote had no focus; it now lands on the window.
  • Cut-off text: the time left and the source name on the phone, the channel name and time range on the TV player band, the channel name on a phone held sideways.

1.0.0 (1729)

Android · Android TV

New

  • A second player engine on Android, VLC (as on the iPhone): streams and films Android's own player cannot open, or whose sound or picture it cannot decode, open in VLC automatically.
  • An Engine row in Technical: which engine is playing and why it was chosen; Automatic, Media3 or VLC can be picked by hand.
  • The app is larger with VLC: the download is about 50 MB.

1.0.0 (1717)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • Start over in the player: a film or episode starts again from 00:00 with one tap.
  • Film and series pages show every detail the source gives: original title, director, cast, country, release date, and a Trailer button where there is one.

1.0.0 (1712)

Android TV

New

  • Android TV: pressing BACK during a film or episode no longer stops it; it keeps playing in a small window at the bottom right. Move to the window and press OK to expand it, BACK to stop.

1.0.0 (1704)

Android · Android TV

New

  • Start over in the player: a film or episode starts again from 00:00 with one tap.
  • Film and series pages show every detail the source gives: original title, director, cast, country, release date, and a Trailer button where there is one.

Fixed

  • Android TV: going back from a film opened the list instead of the film's page; it now returns to the film or series page.
  • Phone and tablet: back on the film's page after the player, the mini player shows under the page.
  • Android TV: the film page's Start over label is no longer cut off.

1.0.0 (1685)

Android · Android TV

New

  • The programme synopsis and Open in guide in the Android TV Live preview: the guide opens on that channel.
  • Bit rate and Buffer in Technical (phone, tablet, TV) — as on the iPhone.
  • A Send to button on the mini player, before play/pause (when there is somewhere to send).

Fixed

  • Android TV: the subtitle column was missing from the Audio and subtitles menu; a film's subtitles are now listed and can be chosen.
  • Tablet: the mini player no longer covers the last row of a list.

1.0.0 (1669)

Android · Android TV

New

  • The phone's tab bar as on the iPhone: a floating capsule with icons; the selected tab sits in a dark pill. The mini player sits just above it; the keyboard covers it when it comes up.
  • Live on a tablet as on the iPad: tap a channel and it plays in the preview beside the list (above it in portrait), with what's on now and next, Full screen, Send to, PiP, Favourite and Open in guide. Turning the tablet doesn't stop the stream.
  • Channel rows on a tablet as on the iPhone and iPad; films, series and the guide open full screen on a tablet (the player pane beside the list is gone).

1.0.0 (1654)

Android · Android TV

New

  • Live as on the iPhone: channel rows without cards, how long the programme has left on the right ("N minutes left"); Live · source picker · search in the header; channel counts on the category chips. Favourites from the menu you get by holding a channel.
  • When a source can't be reached, Live shows a box: Try again, and Switch to the backup list if you have a second list; channels keep playing from the last saved list.
  • With no source, Live and Guide show No source yet: Add source opens the form directly, and Bring from my other device syncs at once on a signed-in device.
  • Search on the phone as on the iPhone: recent searches, category tiles, channels first then films and series, chips with counts, Only these; open a result and come back, and your search is still there.
  • On a tablet, Live has a source picker in the header and search at every width (Channels · Everywhere); the Search tab is laid out as on the iPad.

Fixed

  • On a tablet held sideways, the search closed by itself when the keyboard came up.

1.0.0 (1632)

Android · Android TV

New

  • Subtitle preference (Settings › Playback › Subtitles): a film or channel with subtitles in your language turns them on by itself; Off by default.
  • Settings are the iPhone's: rows with icons, values on the right, real switches; two columns on tablets. Check the service and Mirroring in Diagnostics.
  • Sources are the iPhone's: channel, film and series counts; Refresh · Edit · Delete always in view; Open this source on my other devices in the form.
  • A device joining a full account can Remove one from the list and take its place.
  • After signing in with Google, an offer to add an e-mail address; the "add to your new account?" question on its own sheet.

Fixed

  • The "Signed out" note is now on Profile only, not on every screen.

1.0.0 (1615)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • A half-watched film's poster in Films shows how far you got (iPhone, iPad, Android).
  • iPhone and iPad: an empty Films or Series offers one tap to the other source that has that kind of content; a NEW badge on the Want to watch shelf.
  • The Android series page is the iPhone's: which episode to continue (Continue / Next episode / Play · S1 E1), minutes left and NEXT on episode rows, touch and hold an episode to mark it watched.
  • Android film page: a wide picture and bookmark on phones, the age badge and the date added; a source switcher in the Films and Series headers, genres and sort order staying in place.

Fixed

  • Android: a minimised film or episode shows its progress in the lists straight away.
  • Android: when a search finds nothing, Clear the search clears it without closing it.

1.0.0 (1601)

Android

New

  • Mini player (Android phone and tablet): Minimise in the player keeps it playing in a small bar above the tabs; tap it to bring it back.
  • Picture in picture (Android phone and tablet): with the PiP button, or by leaving the app while playing, the picture keeps playing in a small window.
  • Android phone, live channel: held upright it is laid out like the iPhone — picture on top, now and next, Favourite and a In this category list; on its side, the channel logo and the programme's time.
  • Android tablet: ±10 s buttons and touch seeking in films; a Channels panel beside live TV.
  • Technical details in the player and a titled Audio and subtitles sheet; the episode line and minutes left for series.

Fixed

  • An episode opened from Continue watching now opens with its episode line and the Next episode button.

1.0.0 (1580)

Android · Android TV

New

  • The programme guide on Android (phone, tablet, TV): channels and times together, a now line, day choice; tap a programme for its details, Watch and Favourite. Touch and hold a channel for Add to favourites and Programme guide; a channel's day on its own page.
  • Android phone: the bottom bar is the iPhone's Live · Guide · Films · Series · Settings. Profile opens from the icon at the top right; Sources, Channel layout, Parental control and Diagnostics are in Settings.
  • Android phone and tablet: Profile in the iPhone's layout — an offer to add an e-mail address, the member-since date, My devices (n/5), a summary of your ways in.

Fixed

  • Android phone: Audio and subtitles opens on every film and says so when there are no subtitles.
  • Android phone: in lists without a programme guide, channels no longer read "No programme information".
  • A film or episode that cannot be played now says so.
  • Removing an item from Continue watching now asks first; on the TV, holding OK no longer deletes it without warning.
  • The next-episode countdown shows its seconds; Cancel and Play now can be tapped.

1.0.0 (1537)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

Fixed

  • A device left open (a TV, or a phone lying next to you) now picks up changes made on another device without being closed and reopened; they arrive within a few minutes at most.
  • Android phone: the film player's time bar shows when you tap the screen and stays until you tap it away.
  • Android TV: when a film opens, the progress bar stays visible and shows the full length; on a film whose length is unknown, ◀ ▶ bring up the info band.

  • Android: the "Sign in with Apple" button, which did not work yet, is gone; on Android you sign in with Google or e-mail.

1.0.0 (1512)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • Sign in with Google: "Continue with Google" on the sign-in screen; add Google to an existing account under Profile › Ways in.
  • Signing in with Google offers the account you already have with that address instead of opening a new one; nothing is merged without your yes.
  • A new logo.

Fixed

  • On phones updated from an earlier version, the Google button was missing from the sign-in screen.

1.0.0 (1510)

iPhone · iPad · Android

  • A new logo, on every device.
  • Android phone: Channel layout, a search home and a NEW badge on series with a new episode.
  • On phones, catalogue search and sort share one line; the genres scroll beneath.
  • Android TV: the remote's play and pause keys work; the screen stays on only while playing.

Fixed

  • Android TV: a programme's minutes left are no longer cut off; an OK pressed while the menu opens is no longer lost.

0.1.0 (1436)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • Joining an account says what arrived: "3 lists, 12 favourites and 8 resume points arrived." If the account has no lists yet, it says so.
  • Profile shows "Last synced 2 minutes ago · Sync now"; while the app is open it syncs every 2.5 minutes.
  • Profile › Ways in: add or remove an e-mail address (on iPhone it moved here from Diagnostics).
  • Signing out takes the device off My devices and frees its place; signing back in brings it back as the same device.
  • A one-time banner says what happened when the device was removed from another device, the account was deleted or the session expired.
  • A device switching to another account asks before adding its lists to the new account.
  • The same list added twice to an account becomes one list; favourites and resume points are kept.
  • When the device limit is reached you can remove one device and add this one in the same step.
  • Signing in with an e-mail that belongs to another account offers to join that account instead of opening a new one. On iPhone, an address with no account asks first; "Connect from that device" shows the iPhone's own code.
  • Every address on your account gets a notice when a device joins, a sign-in method is added or removed, or the account is deleted.
  • iPhone and iPad: film details and age rating on the film page; recent searches, categories and genres on an empty search; a NEW badge on series with new episodes; a gold scrubber dot in the film player.

Fixed

  • A new device joining the account erased the parental PIN on every device.
  • A device that changed account could not bring its lists to the new one.
  • A signed-out device stayed on My devices and used up another place.
  • iPhone: an ended session could wrongly read "Couldn't reach the server".

0.1.0 (1351)

Android · Android TV

Fixed

  • On an Android phone, Profile › Connect a device closed the moment the TV opened its code; it now says when the code was opened.
  • The last "from Account" sentence now says Profile; the sign-in note is right: on Android an account opens with an e-mail code.
  • German texts use the formal "Sie" throughout.

0.1.0 (1332)

iPhone · iPad · Android · Android TV

New

  • A new layout: Profile at the top right; on iPhone the tab bar reads Live · Guide · Films · Series · Settings, on iPad the sidebar.
  • A Guide tab: a programme grid for every channel.
  • A redesigned player: move to another screen and the stream keeps playing small; on iPad the Live preview plays in place.
  • Playback and Channel order in Settings: hide channels in a list, and it reaches your other devices.
  • Android phone and Android TV are open to everyone for the first time: a new Live screen (preview, counts per category), hold OK for a favourite, new film and series pages, search, step-by-step source adding, sign-in with email.

Fixed

  • A source deleted while signed out is no longer deleted from your account; it comes back when you sign in.
  • Re-adding a deleted source brings it back to your account.
  • The subtitle section always shows in Audio and subtitles.

0.1.0 (1200)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • New welcome, sign-in and Account screens. Sign in with email: type your address, then the 6-digit code we send you.

  • Days left on Sources now also show for a source added with a provider panel's M3U link.
  • iPad: five tabs fit on iPad mini in portrait; Live's guide column opens on the channel you watched last; the category column stays during search; the series page is laid out like the film page.
  • While adding a source, Save sits right above the keyboard.

Fixed

  • A deleted list's categories no longer stay on screen, and the list is removed from your other devices completely.
  • The sort order you pick in Films and Series now reaches your other devices too.
  • The technical line under the player is gone; the same facts are in Diagnostics.

0.1.0 (1003)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • If the picture stops for 6 seconds, the stream reconnects by itself; a film continues where it stopped.
  • Report a problem, under Account › Data and support and in the player's error box. It gives you a code starting with SOT-; send it to us.
  • Diagnostics data: numbers only, once a day; never a channel name, an address or a password. You can turn it off.
  • All Turkish text now uses the same informal form of address (“sen”).

0.1.0 (923)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • A welcome screen on a fresh install: sign in with Apple or Start without an account.
  • Audio and subtitles open in a sheet from the bottom.
  • Track names are plain: the language and only a useful remark, such as “Portuguese · Brazil”.
  • The same list never appears twice: when a device joins your account, matching lists merge and your favourites and resume points are kept.

Fixed

  • Deleting a list asks first and says where it will be deleted from; it used to delete on the first tap.
  • The end of a long subtitle list can now be reached.

0.1.0 (875)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • The star on a channel row adds it to your favourites; the categories have “Favourites”.
  • The player's controls cover far less of the picture.

Fixed

  • Sources, favourites and resume points from another device show up without reopening the app.

0.1.0 (820)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • Sign in with Apple asks for your e-mail address; sharing or hiding it is your choice.
  • When there are several audio tracks, the one in your language plays first.
  • Sync is open to everyone during the beta, and your free trial is not used up.
  • If Sign in with Apple fails, the reason appears under the button.
  • New colours.
  • The add-source screen is hidden in the app switcher, so the password does not show.

Fixed

  • Favourites, resume points and settings now reach your other device on every account.

0.1.0 (723)

iPhone · iPad

New

  • An Account tab: Sign in with Apple, your device list with remote sign-out, and account deletion.
  • Sync between devices on the same account: favourites, resume points and “Want to watch”. Free during the beta.
  • iPad: sidebar, portrait and landscape, Split View.
  • Adult content lock: adult categories stay hidden until you enter a PIN.
  • Z→A sorting in Films and Series.
  • Mark a whole season watched; a show knows which episode is next.
  • Sources shows how many days your Xtream account has left (requested by A. Güven).

Fixed

  • After pausing and seeking, a film resumes from the right place and the clock no longer freezes.
