Frequently asked

Adding a source

I have no source. Can I still try it?

Yes. In Add source, enter https://sottoiptv.com/test-streams.m3u as the address. Public test streams are added.

My Films and Series tabs are empty

These tabs only show the films and series your source provides.

I typed my source wrong

Press and hold the source and choose Edit. Leave the password empty to keep the saved one.

I can't reach a panel on my own network

iPhone and iPad ask for Local Network permission; turn it on in iOS Settings → Sotto IPTV → Local Network. The device and the panel must be on the same Wi-Fi.

Programme guide

The programme guide does not show

The guide comes from your source; if the source has no guide address, there is no guide. The day guide is on iPhone and iPad; on Android the channel shows what is on now.

Playback

The stream freezes

Sotto reconnects by itself within a few seconds. If it does not recover, the cause is usually your provider or your connection. If it happens often, report a problem.

One channel won't open, the others do

Usually the provider does not allow that channel; the app says so on screen. Ask your provider.

There is no Picture in Picture button

The button only appears with Apple's player. MPEG-TS channels open with VLC, which does not support it.

Adult content does not show

Set and enter a PIN under Adult content (Parental controls on Android TV). The lock comes back when the app closes.

Account and Premium

Does the app cost money?

Playing is free. Premium, which is sync, costs 9.99 USD a year; a new account gets 3 months free, no card, and it does not turn into a paid subscription by itself. During the beta it is free for everyone. Pricing table

How do I sign in on Android?

On an Android phone or TV you sign in by e-mail: type the 6-digit code sent to your address. If your account was opened on an iPhone with Apple, add the Android device from that signed-in phone with Connect a device; it is the shortest way to stay in one account.

I want my password off your server

On iPhone and iPad, turn off the source's Other devices switch; on Android, choose Do not keep it on the server. For the whole account: account deletion.

Devices

How do I watch on my TV?

With the Android TV and Google TV app. You can also send from iPhone and iPad with AirPlay, or from an Android phone with Google Cast.

How do I join the beta?

Sotto for iPhone and iPad is on the App Store. To try new features first, join the iPhone and iPad beta on TestFlight. The beta file for Android phones and Android TV is on the home page. If something goes wrong, write to help@sottoiptv.com.

Why does the TV ask for my source's password?

That source's password is not kept on the server, so each device asks for it once.

Privacy and content

Can your server see my password?

Without an account, no. With sync it is stored encrypted on the server, but the service can read it; this is not end-to-end encryption. You can turn it off per source.

Does the app provide content?

No. Sotto only plays the source you add. You are responsible for that source being lawful.
